CONTENT CROPPING (New unique crop- and Book Splittool)
Maybe you recognize the following situation:
Imaging you have a book of 900 pages and you want to make it searchable. So you first put the book under your book scanner and because you are using BIQE you see these pages appear in the Galary of BIQE during scanning. (fig. 1)
Crop and split
After the scanning job you want to split the book into a left and right page, but you also want then both pages to have the same dimensions in length and height.
After all, if you want to turn it into a searchable PDF then you do NOT want that page to swab from left to right across your screen like a drunk person!
We now developed that unique tool within BIQE for you, for those who no longer want to spend hours endlessly checking and/or correcting split books and/or cropped images. That’s a thing of the past with our content-cropping tool.
How does ontent cropping work? I can tell you in advance that it has been an incredible programming job with many hours of testing on all kinds of different images to realize this great content cropping tool. I hope you will enjoy it very much.
You select the pages of the just scanned book in the Galary and click on the icon (fig. 2) for content cropping.
Then another screen opens where you can choose which method you want to use. In this case we choose the content cropping method and thus select option two: Content Cautious (fig. 3) and press OK.
In this step you can adjust the sensitivity of the content, it is on average between 40 and 50.
You do that by clicking on the tab content and change the number. (fig. 4). The software remembers the number you entered for the next time. And press OK
The Content cropping checks if any content would be cut off , if so you will see an error symbol (fig. 5) indicating that a 1 page or multiple pages would be cropped incorrectly. If so, we will check and fix these pages.
We correct these images as follows:
- First click on the filter symbol (fig. 6)
- And under ‘content cropping’ choose the option: ‘invalid’ (fig. 7)
- Now you will see only the pages that need to be fixed.
- After you have corrected the page(s), click again on the filter symbol (step 1) and choose ‘all’.
Figure 6 Figure 7
Now the error symbol has disappeared and you can click OK (without checking) because all your pages are now correctly split and cropped. (figure 8)
If everything is corrected you can click OK and the result is shown in figure 9
What happens when you adjust the splitting line?
When the coordinate of the splitting line changes, the following calculation occurs:
- Book border
- Page borders (left, right pages)
- Significant information mask
- Size and position of significant information frames
- Size and position of cropping frames
The page remembers the new value of all parameters. That is, when you go to another page and return to this page, the parameters are restored correctly.
Also, when the splitting line coordinate is changed, the page is marked as edited. When switching to another page, a window with a recalculation proposal should be displayed.
