BIQE – with more than 30 image filters!
“Size modification” filtergroup
Centering filter
This function comes in handy when you need to clean the document margins, whilst keeping the original size of the image. Centering filter will find the print area, clean everything outside it and place the print area in the center of the initial image.
TIP
Feel free to experiment with this tool, since every document is different. Try yourself what works best for you. in our experience though, we found that a number between 20 and 25 is best. A higher number then 25 might crop off some text. Maybe this isn’t the case on the particular page you’re working on at that moment, but this could happen on the another pages of your document. So be very careful with a number above the 25!
Floating fixed crop
You can not go without this filter when processing pages of one source. If you need your documents to all have the same size, without having to place the frame manually on each page, this filter is exactly what you need. Even better, the filter will make sure that the print area is in the center of the cropped page: it’s a perfect fit for electronic books, e.g., in PDF format.
TIP
This filter gives your documents the same width and height, so all your pages have the same size. This filter is indispensable, when you save your document as a PDF file, after all it would not look very professional when all the pages would have different sizes when you scroll through them. The dark green line you place directly around the text block and with the light green line you can do some experimenting!
Manual correction tool filter
No matter what your program can do, there’s always that one document that needs some manual intervention. It might be a coffee mug ring, a pencil or a pen doodle, a splash of paint, or … you name it. There’s no possibility to remove these things automatically, so BIQE provides you with an eraser, a freehand brush, a rectangle and straight line drawer along with a color picker – to make your intervention as efficient as can be.
TIP
Always place this filter in your profile, but don’t “just” use it, because this will have effect on all your documents! It will erase all the text in the other pages on the same position you used it the first time, so place and save it in your profile, but don’t edit any settings when you save it. After the processing of the pages, you can use it to correct a page instantly.
Manual fixed crop
Do you need to have all your documents in one particular size for printing on demand or saving to PDF? Set the precise cropping frame and apply to a selection of pages. Alternative way of using this filter is setting a fixed margins size to be cropped.
TIP
The margin cleaning is a bit superfluous, because of the margin cleaning tool. You can still use it in specific cases. But use it with caution.
Manual perspective correction filter
This filter is great when you use a camera as a document scanner. It is virtually impossible to get a perfect rectangle document page, when you you shoot from a handheld position. But: with BIQE this is no longer a problem. Either trust the automatic correction, or do it manually by adjusting the rubber frame, if you like to have full control. This filter is also great on planetary scanners.
TIP
The automatic settings will, in almost all cases, do the job just fine. We recommend to always try this option first, before you draw some lines manually. This is really a great filter to always put in your profile, but don’t use it immediately, because it has also effect on all the other pages. It is more a correction tool after the processing of all the pages is finished.
Margins cleaning filter
This filter is merciless to all garbage objects found in the page margins and even outside of page borders. At the same time all meaningfull information is carefully preserved. The filter is a magic wand for preparing documents to reprint or print on demand.
TIP
When you change the parameters by clicking on ‘configure size’, then you can change the green line in the settings screen. Be a 100% sure though, that you place the green line around the page with the greatest width and height – of your entire document. (Do think of documents who have text in the marge.) If you don’t pick the maximum width and height, text will surely be cut of by this filter. This filter is automatically saved when you choose ‘adjust position’.
Outer margin filter
Sometimes you scan a book with very little margin in the spine of the book. In such a case, this is the tool you really want to use. With this tool you can adjust the setting for the margin on the right and left, but you can also correct the margins on the top and bottom of your page. With this outer margin tool, you get a uniform and professional look of all your pages.
TIP
You have different options with this tool. Just use your creativity by using different colors of this tool.
